Fast Evaporation of Aqueous Samples with the CombiDancer
Evaporation of samples dissolved in water or in water/solvent mixtures is not easy, with very long evaporation times, sample bumping (retardation of boiling) and sample freezing being the most common complaints using the currently available technology.
The concept behind CombiDancer now permits this process to be handled with ease. With CombiDancer, the evaporation process is not based on centrifugation, but a combination of sample vortexing and heating under vacuum. For complex evaporations such as dealing with water or water/solvent mixtures, the CombiDancer can be programmed for multi-stepped evaporation processes, allowing the optimisation of temperature, vacuum and vortexing mode at each stage. Vortexing not only has an advantage over centrifugation by removing the need to balance samples prior to run, but it also significantly decreases the evaporation time by enlarging the evaporation surface area and distributing the heat evenly in the sample without compression of the gas phase.
CombiDancer is extremely versatile and can accommodate a large number of different sample containers from microtiter plates to 100ml tubes.
