ZINSSER ANALYTIC
Decades of experience in Sample Preparation

Zinsser Analytic is a privately held family company run by the Zinsser family. The company was founded in 1970 by Werner and Christel Zinsser for the distribution of scintillation cocktails and consumables for liquid scintillation counting. Today, Zinsser Analytic is an international company well known not only for their scintillators, but also for developing, producing and distributing innovative laboratory solutions for liquid handling and automation including high quality vials, as well as systems for modern drug discovery, material science and combinatorial chemistry. These systems are supplied to leading pharmaceutical, agrochemical, chemical and electronic companies and research laboratories worldwide.

The needs of our customers have always driven the development of Zinsser products. Consequently, Zinsser has often been at the forefront, introducing new and innovative products to the market place.

1970 - Developed a more economic and unbreakable scintillation vial (Polyvials) from high quality, high density polyethylene with gas tight sealing
1981 - Developed safe scintillators, which are based on a solvent that is non toxic, biodegradable, odorless and has a flash point above 150°C
1989
- First parallel synthesizer “SMPS”, developed together with Boehringer Ingelheim as an automation platform for the new idea of combinatorial chemistry
1993 - MOSS: modular sample screening system for HTS which automated the weighing in of compounds, dissolving the samples and then preparing the test plates
1994 - PCR automation for HIV
1995 - Introduction of the first Windows based liquid handling software “WinLissy”
1997
- High throughput synthesizer SOPHAS, overcoming the problem of leakage from the standard approach of filtration with a valve at the bottom of the reactor, by using patented filtration probes. Standard lab ware can hence be used as reactors. This concept was awarded the Hessian Innovation Award.
1998
- Automated sample preparation for solid phase synthesis with REDI – the powder & resin dispensing system
1999 - Increased throughput on a liquid handling system with an integrated tray server (TraySy) so that the liquid handler is populated with the required labware automatically
2000
- Combination of weighing, liquid and powder handling (LIPOS) on one single automation workbench
  - Specially designed borosilicate glass vials (CLS Vials) for compound storage and for use in robotic liquid handling systems
2004 - Introduced the first automated system (CRISSY) for Salt and Pre-Screening Studies with a clever reactor block, which enables the user to directly present the crystals to the XRPD system without additional transfer steps
2005 - Introduced the automation platform (SuSy) for Preformulation and Solubility Studies at the very early stage of development, where only limited amount of compound is available

- Redi 2002 plus advanced powder handling for the precise distribution of 1mg of solids
2006 - Released the automation platform Formula X for developing and optimizing formulations in a miniaturised approach, so tests can already be performed at an early stage of development

- Micro-Polyvials developed for storage and packaging of low volumes of reagents
2007 - Introduced a liquid handling system (LISSY) for the parallel processing of ELISA methods instead of running them sequentially

- Developed  high quality dropper bottles made from low density polyethylene
2008
- Released SOPHAS HT, the catalyst factory, a fully automated system for the preparation of impregnation solutions, impregnation itself, drying, calcinations, pelletising, grinding and sieving in catalyst R&D
