Quality control of milk samples
Pipetting robots have proven useful when processing large sample amounts, they save time, increase precision and work in a reproducible manner.
What if your method is uncommon and does not comply with the usual frame of liquid handling and you can only achieve your desired results by adjusting the system?
An example is the sample preparation of milk samples in the quality assurance of the state inspection associations for a number of tests such as i.e. the inhibitor test, the test for testing for leucosis and brucellosis germs.
Usually the raw milk samples stem directly from the milk factories and are delivered to the lab in milk crates with 80 or 100 samples directly from the sample extraction and are tested for residues or germs with help of the common ELISA test. The extraction of milk samples is done directly from the sample bottles, the aliquot is placed on a microtiter plate, which also includes standards and controls, and after the performed pipetting of all reagents, they are inserted into a reader. The bottles or crates may also have a barcode and that data is read by an Excel sheet or a CSV file from a network prior to the pipetting. The software of Lissy must consider that a different number of samples are delivered by the milk factories. Lissy should continuously pipette, but it also has to be able to begin at a certain point in the milk crate and transfer it to the same positon on the microtiter plate. There are often up to 1000 samples per milk factory to be processed.
