Vial Crimping

Automated Crimping

  • More reproducible and reliable than manual crimping, tight sealing guaranteed
  • Full integration into the automation process
  • Separated from the rest of the process in a safe position on one side of the workbench
  • Crimping and decrimping with two devices on one machine
  • Versatile - suitable for different cap sizes, ranging from diameters 8mm to 20mm [on the same machine]
  • Can be used with either bowlfeeder or cap rack
  • Bowlfeeder for larger quantities, caprack for smaller quantities
  • Direct disposal of used caps into the integrated waste container
  • Tools are customizable for customer specific vials
Vial Crimping

Crimping

  1. The rail below the crimper has already moved out to its position on the workbench
  2. The robot arm places a vial on the rail
  3. The bowlfeeder provides a cap
  4. A gripper moves the cap from its position on the vial
  5. The rail moves back to the capper
  6. The capper moves down, crimps the cap and moves up again
  7. The rail moves out to the workbench again
  8. The robot arm’s gripper catches up the vial

Decrimping

  1. The rail below the decrimper has already moved out to its position on the workbench
  2. The robot arm places a vial in the holder on the rail
  3. The rail moves to the decrimper
  4. The decrimper moves down, crimps the cap such that it opens, and lifts up the cap
  5. The rail moves out to the workbench again
  6. An ultrasonic sensor checks the vial’s content
  7. The robot arm’s gripper catches up the vial
  8. The cantilever arm below the decrimper rotates with its collecting bin below the decapper
  9. The decapper releases the cap, the cap falls into the collecting bin
  10. The cantilever arm rotates back to its initial position above the trash can
  11. The collecting bin opens so that the cap falls into the waste container
